Suddenly Sami

April 15, 2015

On Saturday, April 11 the movie Suddenly Sami (Min mors hemmelighet) by Sami Norwegian film maker Ellen-Astri Lundby was shown in the new classroom/activity space at the Center. Suddenly Sami is a personal film about identity. During the director’s childhood and youth in Oslo, her mother never told her about her indigenous Sami background in the Arctic area of Norway. The questions are asked:  Why didn’t she?  And how can the director suddenly become Sami in the middle of life?

The first of the pot luck lunches preceded the film with much good food and socializing.
