Varpu Lotvonen is a PhD student at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. She has explored archives that relate to reindeer herding in Alaska with a special interest in the Sámi story. She will talk about reindeer herding in Alaska − which was truly a multicultural project − from the point of view of connections between cultures and individuals. Her presentation will feature rare photographs and snippets from Alaskan Sámi oral histories, among other archival materials.
