The Sami Reindeer People of Alaska
February 12, 2018The exhibit, which is a joint project of the Sami Cultural Center and Báiki will be opening on April 14, 2018, noon- 4 p.m. at the American Swedish Historical Museum, 1900 Pattison Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and continues until August 31, 2018.
The Sami Reindeer People of Alaska exhibit tells the stories of the reindeer herders hired by the U.S. government in 1894 and 1898 to teach reindeer husbandry to Native Alaskans and features historic photographs, maps, and Sami traditional handicrafts.
